.
Our Promise:

.
Explanation of what 1A does;
I am a hunting guide service. I am hired by about 20 different ranches and 3 partnered outfitters to guide for them. I advertise their hunts on my website to help keep me busy, and if for some reason I can not actually guide your hunt, I still get paid a small referral fee from the ranch for any hunts booked through my website. The ranch pays that, not you, so your price is supposed to be the same whether booked through me or directly through the ranch. I also outfit hunts on a couple of ranches myself, and I am a wildlife biologist, so I do consulting work in that regard for some of the ranches I advertise. Here is a short bio about me.

1A Hunting in Texas Guide Service
Policies regarding: Pricing, Booking, Deposits, Kill Fees, Manners, Liability, Tips

1. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
2. Base pricing is subject to change without notice any time prior to
   reserving a hunt.
    a. Pricing is often tied to size of your hunting party. A hunting
party is defined as a group of hunters all together on the same
day(s), and us dealing with one person for deposit, confirmation
and balance due. Separate checks equals separate parties.
3. A hunt is reserved when the hunter commits to sending a deposit.
4. Unless otherwise agreed to by all parties, a deposit shall be 50% or
more of the basic cost of any hunt.
5. Reserved hunts are held for 5 mailing days only to allow for
   deposit delivery.
6. A hunt is not “booked” until a deposit is received and clears the bank.
7. Once booked, the base terms of a hunt are considered set in stone, unless
all parties agree to any changes.
    a. Pricing for additional animal and/or service options at the time of the
hunt, are still subject to change at any time, unless paid in advance.
8. A deposit may be made by check (if there is plenty of time for it to clear
    the bank), cashier’s check or money order, made out to;
1A Hunting in Texas, mailed to; 212 Judith Ann, Schertz, Texas 78154.
Please include a note as to what hunt and dates the deposit should be
applied, along with your full contact info, so we can send your confir-
mation letter, or call you with questions.
9. A deposit is the hunter’s assurance that they will make the hunt.
10. If a hunt is canceled by hunter(s), there will generally be no deposit
returned. Provided that you give us plenty of notice (at least 30 days),
we will make every effort to allow you to change your hunting dates
to another opening for that same hunt. We will also try to allow you to
switch to some other hunt open on a date you can go, or you could send
another hunter to take your place, but if nothing can be arranged that
season, you will lose your deposit. A no show deposit is forfeited and may
NOT be applied to the balance due of other hunters in the same party.
PLEASE understand, we don’t want anyone to be out of their money, but
well before you come down to hunt with us we are already out a lot of
money in lease fees, advertising, insurance, equipment, feed, etc. If we
are unable to book someone else in your place, we lose all of that. Also
consider, if we don’t hunt, we don’t make any guide fee. This job has
     NO days off with pay!
11. If the hunt is canceled by us for a reason other than weather, all
deposit moneys will be returned. We can not control the weather, so
hunts canceled due to extreme weather will not qualify for a refund.
We will attempt to reschedule within that same hunting season.
12. We will not be responsible for moneys spent by hunter(s) for hunt
     preparation prior to our cancellation.
13. Unless stated otherwise, the balance due on a hunt is to be PAID IN
EXACT CASH upon arrival at the hunt site. No checks will be accepted.
14. Harvest fees, if applicable, are due in cash or cash equivalent at time
of harvest, unless prior arrangements have been made.
15. A harvest is any animal leaving blood or other bodily fluids, or
exhibiting any indication of being hit, whether the animal is actually
recovered or not; no exceptions to this policy.
16. While on the hunt, all participants are expected to act in a safe and
     sportsmanlike manner at all times.
17. Anyone not acting in a safe and/or sportsmanlike manner in the
opinion of any 1A Hunting in Texas Guide Service staff member
may be made to leave and no refund of any kind will be offered.
18. A liability waiver must be signed by all participants prior to any
hunt related activities occurring. Click here to read our waiver!
Several partnered ranches also require their waiver to be signed.
19. Each partnered ranch has their own rules in addition to our policies.
These are normal things for south Texas, like; no smoking in any build-
ing, vehicle or blind, and no littering of any kind. Many also have a wet
weather rule, like “no driving when wet enough to leave ruts”. Please
check the rules of the ranch for your hunt BEFORE booking if you
think obeying them may be difficult for you.
20. Unless otherwise stated, there are several things in the total cost of
a hunt that are NOT covered in the pricing shown. Click for a list!
.And now a word about Tips!
A gratuity, better known as a tip, is appreciated by our staff but is not required. In most service industries though, like hunting, fishing, restaurants and the like, they are common, and our staff works very hard to make your trip as pleasant as possible, in part, to encourage you to tip well. However, we feel like it should be your choice as to whether to tip or not, and how much to tip if you do. We have made this policy clear to our staff. What we offer here is a guideline on gratuities for your consideration, but remember, it is just a guideline.
.
Most tips in this industry run about 10% – 20% of the total cost of the hunt. The lower percentage usually applies on high dollar hunts (say, over $5000) They also run to the low end if the staff doesn’t do much for the overall hunting experience. The high end percentage is normally applied to low dollar hunts (say, $500 or less). Tips also tend to be a little higher percent if the staff bends over backward to make it a great trip for you. No tip at all would be very appropriate if you feel cheated or mistreated, but that better never happen on one of our hunts or some staff members are in deep trouble. That 10-20% normal tip is usually split up between all the staff as you see fit. The guide tends to get the biggest cut since he is responsible for the fewest number of hunters and probably the most responsible for the success of the hunt. The cook tends to get the next biggest cut, since great cooking can really enhance the overall experience. The hostesses and maids, if used on that hunt, tend to get the least per hunter, but since they usually deal with all the hunters present, they wind up with as much total tip per hunt as any other staff member. The outfitter does not usually get a tip unless also acting as a guide, or cook, or both on your hunt. Then, a tip is very appropriate if you feel they earned one. Gratuities may be made all at once to the huntmaster and they pass them out according to your instruction, but they mean more to the staff if handed out by you on a personal basis.
